A herniated disc (also known as bulged, slipped, or ruptured) occurs when a fragment of the disc nucleus pushes into the spinal canal through a tear or rupture in the annulus. Herniated discs are usually in an early stage of degeneration.
There are some herniated discs that cause no symptoms. There are also those that can irritate nearby nerves and cause pain, numbness, or weakness in an arm or leg. In some cases, discs do not require intervention. Medication, physical therapy, and surgery may be necessary when needed.
Gramercy Pain Center offers several treatments for herniated discs. We can answer all your questions if you schedule a consultation with us.
